In Celebration of Tea

So last week, I'd reserved a spot in the 4pm tea ceremony today. Well, on Monday, my Kanji sensei says class is mandatory on Wednesday (today). Well, freakin' hot diggity. So, I decided to sneak into the 2pm one instead. This was all good and all, but I had to run to Aikido class at 3pm and then run back over to Kanji to find out that the mandatory attendance was because the class was going to attend the tea ceremony. WTF! Meanwhile, I'm sweating like a pig staring at bacon in this record-breaking atsui day.

Nonetheless, you can sneak a peek at some folks who I saw there. Aww, pretty kimonos.

And speaking of the Japanese, there seems to be a certain problem called href="http://www.observer.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,841785,00.html">hikikomori in which people are hermitizing themselves in their rooms for extended periods of time. Stuff like this just intruiges me.

And now, I have links to sites about sex and fecal matter.

Liquid Black Death

No, I'm not talking about oil, you silly kids. I'm talking about what I make at work: coffee. I've begun developing my barrista skills, and very soon shall I be able to make espresso and dance around like Tom Cruise simultaneously. This week will be the hardcore training, so I'll probably be wired with caffeine for the most of it from testing my own drinks.

Also at my arubaito, I was helping sort through the Sports section, and I got a good laugh whenever I came upon a selection from the Hunting category. What follies induced such humor in me? Well, there was one or two books that I could swear should have been in the cooking section but were in Hunting instead; there are also a good number of books on turkeys.

Last night, some friends had a party to celebrate their newborn girl's one month of life (you go, Ken!). Maybe I'll be able to get some pictures from him later. Anyhow, I was talking with their first kid, three year old Matthew, and he's such a genius: he loves BMW's and can tell the difference between the series. That kid is going places.

Here, have a link to entertain yourself.

Oh, yes, and the pictures page has been updated with some Halloween goodies.

Sick and Twisted

I am freakin' bookshelf master. On saturday, at 8am, the Emeryville Barnes and Noble welcomed its employees to slit open boxes and bombard its shelves with a monsterous array of books. I, with my power, energy, and enthusiasm, was unphased by the daunting task before us. In fact, I quite enjoyed hauling the dead trees around, mingling with co-workers, and ending up being sore by the time we finished off everything and left at 4pm.

Well, of course, that was not to be the end of such a glorious saturday. When I returned home to clean myself up some, I took a disco nap (ooh, new vocabulary I've learned); then, I was off to Miral's shindig. He has a jack-o-lantern with the face eating a baby--wtf!? His place is this puny little box, and he had two TV's showing various movies like Austin Powers and Mission: Impossible while music waved through the place and he stammered about in his... err... bumblebee outfit. (Yes, you bastards, pictures will be up--be patient, I need to get them developed!)

Sometime this week, all insanity shall break loose when I get a chance to attend Spike & Mike's Sick & Twisted Festival of Animation. Ah, quality animation at its crudest.
