Day of Weddingisms

So, it turns out I'm gonna be playing piano at that dude's wedding. I get to play on this funky keyboard; I really need the sustain pedal for the pieces I'm gonna be playing, though, but they don't have one for me yet! Anyways, I guess I've gotta practice for the next two months until the wedding!

Speaking of weddings, yesterday, I went to a beautiful wedding in Burlingame at a place called Kohl Mansion. It was outdoors in the garden, and the procession ceremony ended with doves flying. And, hey, I even got a picture with Samantha.

Great Expectations

Yesterday was supposed to be the shiznat; it ended up with a stench rather similar to that.

11:00. Was supposed to meet a guy to figure out whether I'm playing piano at his wedding or not. I waited until 11:10, and it was a no-show. Called him up, rescheduled for today. If he flakes on me again, no piano playing for him!

12:00. Was supposed to meet somone for lunch and hang out for a few hours. I waited until 12:15, and it was a no-show.

3:30. Was supposed to meet someone for coffee. I ended up arriving early, but nothing ended up happening until 4, so I had to sit around twiddling my thumbs in the meantime.

5:00. Had nothing scheduled until 7, so I went to tease my friends in the Soda Hall lab who were doing their projects.

7:00. Waited for a few minutes in front of Soda Hall; I gave my friend I was supposed to meet a call, and he was still at home! Anyways, we ended up getting the group together and headed out to San Francisco for dinner and club.

The hi-light of my day was going up to a DJ and asking her to play Britney Spears. Hey, at least I got a free coke for that. :)

Anyways, I might have expected too much when I woke up Saturday morning. I certainly wasn't expecting to be pretty much flaked for every event I planned on. My time's important, and if they don't care to respect that, I can always make plans with other people who do. Oh well, I'll just make sure not to schedule too much with them next time.

On friday, I headed out to the Albatross, and I met this real cool drunken lawyer and a few folks who were in town for a lighting convention (don't ask me, heh). The lawyer was from Pennsylvania and the lighting dudes were from Georgia; they kept joking that the Civil War has still been going on for the past 150 years. Few things learned: "breathe through your toes," "you can always count on hate," "we're not cheating us, we're cheating them," and also Laertes is Ophelia's brother (I forgot that!). Ah, what a bunch of goons.

Today, I've got a wedding to attend; it should be fun. :)

Dee-rie-veeng

I wake up this morning, and what do I see outside? Clear skies and bright sun! So, I decide to take the car out for a spinnie-spin! I pop a J-pop CD in the radio, and I head out first for Moraga/Orinda; Moraga Road there is a nice drive. Well, I just keep driving and driving, looking for single-lane roads and trying to stay away from the freeway. I especially like roads with the "speed checked by radar" signs on them: then you know it's gonna be a good fast ride! Zoom!

I just kept going, and I stopped looking for street signs or anything; I didn't know what city I was in anymore. I decided I was going to stop and turn around when I saw the first 7-11 (so I could buy a slurpee, of course). Well, I never found a 7-11.

The last road I was on had this awesome view of rolling green hills and a view of this valley: it was incredible! Driving by golf courses and beautiful houses (and pretty flowers!), I started to notice the road getting a little cramped. And then it started go winding left and right, and civilization started to vanish. I began to worry that a farmer would pop out of nowhere and point a shotgun at me.

At this point, my CD had finished, and I hit a "not a through street" sign, so I decided it was time to do a loopie back around. At this point, I somehow decide that I'm a racecar driver and that I can drive fast like any bad-arsed mofo. So I'm making lefts and rights on this winding road, and I eventually see this 10mph turn ahead of me, so I pop it into neutral and turn that badboy around it at something like 30-40mph; at this point, the laws of physics decide to make my left front tire lose traction and make these poppity skidding noises--sweet moses, I'm doing a front-wheel drift. I immediately pop the car back in gear and hit the gas before Mr. Physics decides to topple me over into some poor redneck's backyard.

Ladies and gentlemen, I could have died right there and no one would have known for a few days!

Anyhow, it turns out that your trusty hero was somewhere in/around Castro Valley driving on Foothill Road. I wish I had a nice convertable to drive up there.

That's it for now--until my next adventure!

Take Me Out (To The Ballgame!)

Packed with only a bottle of water (that just sort of disappeared), a little bit of dinero (some of this disappeared too), and a grin on my face (naw, that never disappears), I headed off with some folks over to Pacbell Park for a day at the ballpark! I had an awesome time, and the new stadium is beautiful! I like how they have various concession stands named after different parts of the Bay Area. And, of course, there's also that magnificent view of the bay.

I'm very satisfied with all the tax money the San Franciscans put into building it. :)

April Tomfoolery!

OK, I didn't do too much clowning around today (at least not more than usual). The family's gone to Tahoe for their spring break (which offset by a week from mine!), so I'm home alone enjoying the delicacies of kimchi ramen. I guess I'll cook tomorrow night. :)

Today was such a nice day, I took the car out for a drive. I noticed before that the rear speakers were dead, so I finally decided to pull out the radio and solder in some wires to finally secure some crap back there: now my music will always be in tip-top shape!

I headed over to B-town and grabbed a smoothie at the place that makes the best freakin' smoothies you'll ever have in your mortal life: Hummingbird Cafe. I recommend the mango or rasberry (if you don't mind the little seeds). Yummy! :D
