A friend from San Francisco State University, Jerry Pietrzak, has a guest post on Alive in Kyoto about his time serving in Iraq. I'm glad that he's finally going home.
Jerry was actually the biggest reasons that I chose Kyoto University of Foreign Studies over Waseda University in Tokyo.
Hey Ivan: Thanks for sharing this, I was seriously moved. I mean I started this day kind of in the crappers (even had some homeless guy on telegraph tell me "you look miserable girl") and now I am smiling and taking it in stride. I mean we gotta laugh at the blown up porta potties in life. What a heroic person, and having to get it together to go in a day? I mean even the getting a power of attorney in case you don't...well you know.
Sorry for the late reply, and hope you're feeling better now. :)
I also had a laugher at the exploding porta pottie story. It's great how Jerry details a bit like that. Hearing about getting only 24hrs notice to leave everything behind is truly amazing. That's gotta hit you like a wall.
I'm sure he's got much much more to tell, cause that piece was way too short!
